"Ann was 92 years old and an absolute joy to be around," Winn said. "She was funny, witty, incredibly intelligent, politically and community active, and my best friend. Hollywood, CA (May 16, 2011) - Alabama was devastated with tornadoes on April 27, 2011, the deadliest "tornado day" in the United States since 1925. The storm footage in Tuscaloosa had people glued to their TVs, but so many areas around the state were hit almost as hard and are still in shambles. As the weeks have passed, total destruction of entire neighborhoods is still visible. Market shelves have been bare and many across the state are still without power.
