Paul Mitchell Future Professional Takes Top Honors in Sassoon Cosmetology Contest
by Paul Mitchell Schools on 12/23/2008When Paul Mitchell The School – Phoenix was invited to enter the Scottsdale Sassoon Salon Cosmetology Student of the Year competition, they sent Future Professional Vanessa Amoretti. After competing against her classmates for the honor, Vanessa took on students from 20 other cosmetology schools, including Toni and Guy and Kohler Academy, and won the statewide competition. Her grand prize includes a 5-day ABC Cutting Course valued at $1,265, to be taken at the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, California.
Held October 27, 2008, at the Scottsdale Sassoon Salon and judged by salon staff members, the competition rated students on their technical ability, use of color or perm, suitability of the cut to the model, and complete head-to-toe look with an emphasis on healthy, shiny hair.
Admissions Leader Kelley White said, “We are so proud of Vanessa. She won our in-house competition and diligently prepared for the statewide competition under the guidance of our education team. Her hard work and practice really paid off, and she is a fantastic representative of our school. Vanessa chose a challenging and different haircut. She took time to storyboard her inspiration, which detailed her vision and game plan.”
“Vanessa has a great eye for style,” added School Owner Linda Yodice. “Naturally talented, acutely focused, and determined to be the best she could be, Vanessa studied hard, practiced a lot, and took things seriously. We’re so proud of her. She represented all of us so well. All in all, Vanessa is one sharp cookie!”
